Challenges support the Green Schools program and include:

  • Writing Challenge – encourages students to write about environmental topics. Depending on the grade level, students may write sentences, poetry, essays, or short stories. This challenge contains numerous ideas and sample themes.
  • Bird Challenge – students record bird sightings in a 24-hour time period during the spring and report their bird identification tallies to SEEDS.
  • One Tonne Challenge – provides many suggestions by which students and their families can reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by one tonne per year. Using energy and other resources wisely, helps reduce emissions. Actions taken can be recorded and sent to SEEDS online.
  • Water Challenge – encourages students to examine how water used and consider some ways to conserve it.
