International Mother Earth Day

Earth Day is more than a celebration; it’s a call to action for all of us to steward the planet responsibly. With over 1 billion people in 192 countries participating in Earth Day activities, it’s a chance to join a global community dedicated to making a difference. This year, our International Mother Earth Day CELEBRATION invites students, educators, and families to come together in the spirit of stewardship and action for a better, healthier planet.

Organiser:

Creation Village World School

(Florida, United States)

General goals

The goal of this event is to engage participants in activities that promote sustainability and environmental awareness, focusing on themes of water conservation, environmental education, and collaboration among students. We align our efforts with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:

  • SDG 13: Climate Action
  • SDG 15: Life on Land
  • SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

These SDGs underscore the importance of collective action to combat climate change, protect ecosystems, ensure clean water, and foster sustainable practices worldwide.

Event Background

Earth Day is more than a celebration; it’s a call to action for all of us to steward the planet responsibly. With over 1 billion people in 192 countries participating in Earth Day activities, it’s a chance to join a global community dedicated to making a difference. This year, our International Mother Earth Day CELEBRATION invites students, educators, and families to come together in the spirit of stewardship and action for a better, healthier planet.

How to Participate

  • Attend Discussion Sessions: Participate in live discussions where students and educators can share their insights on the UN SDGs, the impact of climate change, and what they are doing locally to protect the environment.
  • Participate in Nature Walks and Cleanup Activities: Take part in virtual and on-site nature walks, where you will learn about local ecosystems and environmental issues. Cleaning up local parks, beaches, or school grounds is a practical way to engage in stewardship.
  • Collaborate Globally: Engage with other students from different parts of the world in virtual projects. Share your country’s efforts in conservation and water protection, and learn from others’ experiences.
  • Submit a Creative photography art work, or drawing capturing powerful images related to water, nature, or the environment. Think about your surroundings and how you can reflect on the beauty or the challenges related to the Earth. Please submit your work to: dcummings@creationvillage.com

  • Collaborate with Others: Team up with peers to create larger projects or participate in joint discussions. Collaboration enhances learning and promotes diverse perspectives.
  • Use Sustainable Materials: If you’re creating physical projects, use recycled or upcycled materials whenever possible. This reduces waste and encourages sustainable production.
  • Practice Safe and Responsible Behavior: If engaging in outdoor activities like clean-ups or nature walks, make sure all activities are safe, environmentally responsible, and follow local guidelines.
