A Journey of Aesthetic Exploration

International Schools Association

Ningbo Huamao Foreign Language School

The journey mainly included two parts: learning western food etiquette class, and visiting Huamao Art Education Museum.

The bilingual education of Ningbo Huamao Foreign Language School aims to help students become lifelong learners with the vision of “Learners of Character, Leaders with Global perspectives”. In order to broaden students’ outlooks and help them to understand more about foreign culture, the bilingual class organized all sixth-graders to come to the beautiful DongQian Lake and experienced a journey of aesthetic exploration most recently.

The journey mainly included two parts: learning western food etiquette class, and visiting Huamao Art Education Museum. To be more specific, in the western food etiquette class, the staff from Hilton Hotel gave students a detailed and interesting explanation from the order of serving, the use of tableware and dining etiquette. Students here listened and did the hands-on practice carefully, such as left fork, right knife, gently cut, slowly chew, quiet dining, and so on. As a great supplement to bilingual courses, Western food etiquette course not only enriched student’s life but improved students’ cross-cultural awareness.

After the Western food etiquette class, the students also visited Huamao Art Education Museum under the guidance of the teachers, feeling the “great education”, “great art” and “great aesthetic education”, and writing down their feelings while in the beautiful environment:

Today is a sunny day. We go to the art museum and I see a lot of artworks, such as Crying Women and Going Back and Forth. One of my favorite paintings is Going Back and Forth. I feel sorry for the people who are suffering a lot, and I also hate war. Every color in the painting touches my heart. Every flower tells me that the artist wants peace from the bottom of his heart. Other artworks are also very fantastic, especially Picasso’s. His works are so strange that visitors can hardly understand its meaning. Many people love his works, so do I. I think he sees the world in a novel perspective. It’s different from others. I learn a lot today. What a full day it is! (Aason)

Today is a good day because we come to Huamao Art Education Museum. There are many master sketches, historical pictures and many introductions of artists. The number of people appreciating the paintings is countless. Besides, our art teacher gave us guidance before we went. We learned different types of fine art. During the visit, the worksheet helps us to admire all the precious artworks well. One of my favorite works is called A Girl, because it is really colorful. Such a joyful study journey! I think this is a really fulfilling day! (Wendy)
