After almost ten years of going through the process
The 2021/22 academic year is very special for Agora Sant Cugat as it has become the only school in the Barcelona metropolitan area that offers the IB Continuum. After almost ten years of going through the process, it finally completed the final stage of the International Baccalaureate Organisation authorisation process in June 2021 to be able to offer the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Secondary. It is a huge success for the School and allows them to teach the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in Infant and Primary and the Diploma Programme (DP) in Baccalaureate, the minimum requirement to belong to the exclusive group of IB Continuum Schools in the world.
One of the most outstanding characteristics of these programmes, and what differentiates them from the traditional ones, is that students are able to produce their own knowledge through hands-on experience and the basic concepts acquired guided by professionals prepared to impart this type of curriculum which aims to awaken students’ curiosity and deepen the process of inquiry and research. The three IB programmes aim to help students grow in their knowledge and personal growth to fulfil the profile of the IB community and become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. In short, people with a comprehensive education who are able to apply what they have learnt to real life and build a better world where mutual understanding and respect for all cultures are imperative.
With the hard work and support of everyone in the School, it has taken almost ten years for Agora Sant Cugat to complete the authorisation process and they are very excited to start their first academic year as an IB Continuum school and continue to be committed to the challenge of offering the best educational model for their students.
