The Foundation for Environmental Education is thrilled to announce our upcoming Global Action Days campaign, scheduled to take place from April 22nd to May 3rd, 2024. Supported by an incredible network of over 100 members across nearly 100 countries and backed by groups such as The World Scout Organisation Movement, UNESCO Asp Net Schools, and your very own International Schools Association
What are the Global Action Days?
For over a decade, the Global Action Days have empowered schools worldwide to take part in meaningful, youth led actions to help save the planet. Not only that, the Global Action Days are also designed to be easily incorporated into everyday teaching practice and even extracurricular project-based learning. This year, the theme for the Global Action Days is ‘Let’s Get Climate Ready’ and has already united over 300 thousand school participants from over 90 countries to make positive contributions to tackle the climate emergency.
Why Should Your School Participate?
Your school will have the opportunity to:
- Engage students in hands-on activities that instil a sense of responsibility towards the environment and help embeds environmental learning into all curricula areas.
- Connect with schools globally, fostering a sense of global citizenship and shared commitment to environmental action.
- Focus on positive climate action and inspire others!
What Are we asking schools to do?
Over the course of ten days, between April 22nd to May 3rd 2024, we have set a series of five diverse environmental tasks that are suitable for all ages and abilities. These tasks are designed to directly address climate change, biodiversity loss and waste reduction. From low-carbon meal planning to studying migratory bird patterns, our Global Action Day tasks are tailored to make a significant difference, spark debate and inspire longer-term action to make your school more sustainable. We understand how busy your school timetables are, so we have set the tasks to be completed in any order to best suit your school schedule. We have even set homework for families to help engage your wider school community in (fun) eco-actions.
How Can Your School Get Involved?
Register for the Global Action Days 2024 by visiting the Foundation for Environmental Education website. Registration is completely free and provides access to resources in multiple languages, ensuring your participation is a success.
