House Charity Day
As part of our House Charity Day on 25th of June 2021, our students chose three charities to raise money for their great causes. The three charities chosen were the Alex Wardle Foundation, RSPCA, and Ocean Sheroes. All three are very close to many hearts here at SJC.
Alex Wardle was a student here at SJC who was training to become a doctor when he tragically passed away of an undetected heart condition. His family set up the foundation in his memory to raise awareness for his condition and provide more defibrillators in communities around the UK.
The students also chose Ocean Sheroes, who we had the pleasure of meeting before they embarked on one of the toughest endurance races on Earth where they rowed 2700 miles from San Francisco to Hawaii. Then the final charity chosen was the RSPCA as we all have a love for animals here at SJC and it is a great cause to continue raising money for.
Over the course of the day, we had many different events including sponge throwing where volunteers had wet sponges thrown at them for a donation, cake sales, plants for sale that were grown by our Middle School gardening club, guess the number of sweets in the jars and seeing how far you can row in 60 seconds.
All these activities, apart from the Middle school plant sale, were run and enjoyed by staff and students of all years and houses.
