a project within the Agora Posidonia Experience, unique in the Balearic Islands and pioneering in Spain, which aims to raise awareness of the marine world
The Aula del Mar was inaugurated in early November – a project that goes beyond a mere academic and classroom experiences with the aim of making our students aware of the importance of preserving our seas and oceans. The programme includes a series of workshops, lectures, talks, excursions and activities that students will experience throughout their school life, with the aim of finishing their studies with a knowledge of the marine environment and therefore with a commitment to its preservation.
The AULA DEL MAR is a unique project in the Balearic Islands and is a pioneer initiative in Spain, perfectly complementing the commitments and values that are central to the visions of Agora International School and Globeducate, such as STEAM, Shaping World, and the IB.
The AULA DEL MAR has been designed in collaboration with the Vellmarí association and with the support of organisations such as the Palma Aquarium Foundation, IMEDEA and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography.
The main objective behind the creation of this project is to raise awareness and understanding of our marine world from an early age, since knowledge can lead to appreciation, and appreciation can generate passion and therefore awareness and preservation. The classroom was inaugurated by Aurora Ribot, Second Vice-President and Councillor for Sustainability of the Consell de Mallorca, Rafel Sedano, Councillor for the Environment of Calvia Town Council, Carolina Rodríguez, CEO of Globeducate for Spain and Andorra, Manu San Felix, explorer of National Geographic and Vicenç Gandol, General Director of Globeducate Spain and Andorra and by Rafael Barea, Headmaster of Agora Portals International School.
