ISA Executive Officers recently convened in New York for a four-day meeting. During this productive and fruitful meeting, the officers discussed the strategic direction of the organization and ways to enhance global education opportunities for students. Among the key achievements made during the meeting are several strategic partnerships, events, and initiatives that will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become global citizens.
Empowering our partnership with WFUNA
ISA has empowered the partnership with the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) to organize several events aimed at developing critical skills for students. Among these events is a Model United Nations conference scheduled for November 2023 in New York. The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the General Assembly Hall inside the UN Headquarters. Additionally, a Summer Camp will be held in Geneva in August 2023, focusing on leadership and Model United Nations skills. Another Model United Nations event will be held in January 2024, in collaboration with the World Health Organization in Geneva.
Office of Disarmament (ODA)
ISA has also planned several joint projects with the Office of Disarmament (ODA) that link disarmament with education for peace. These projects include an online initiative and an event that will bring students together to discuss important global issues in either January or March 2024.
UN Pass Renewal: The organization has committed to renewing its UN passes annually, in both New York and Geneva.
Collaboration with other NGOs and UN bodies
ISA will continue to work with other NGOs and UN organizations, such as UNITAR, to plan activities that will help students develop global citizenship skills.
Promoting ISA’s presence: The organization is also working hard to promote its presence and create more opportunities for students to participate in activities inside UN headquarters in both New York and Geneva.
The officers also discussed the upcoming Annual General Assembly and the Board meeting to be held in Mexico from October 29th to November 4th. During this meeting, the Board members will discuss the organization’s budget and plans for 2024. The officers will also support the Youth Leadership Encounter 2023 about Well-Being and Mental Health.
